This project started with several rounds of developmental editing. I worked with the author to ensure her book had a compelling narrative that also helped her achieve her desire to help others dealing with domestic violence. The other goal of the developmental edit was to maintain the author’s voice, which included ensuring the text was not difficult to read while also showing how the language barrier she faced added to her struggles as she sought to protect her children. Once the developmental edit was complete, I also line edited and copyedited the manuscript.
